FAYDI CONFERENCE ON ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE @ COLLEGE OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

A REPORT ON THE EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE AT ADUKROM (C.D.S) 
The just ended educational conference at Adukrom College of Development Studies (C.D.S) can be described as one of a successful story. Before Foundation for Africa Youth Development International (FAYDI) reached the school, students and masters were ready to kick off the conference. The conference room was put in shape to facilitate the presentations. The change in atmosphere greatly tells of students’ and masters’ preparation and anticipation for a power packed presentation fueled by a passion for excellence in academics. The conference actually started on Friday and lasted for three days, from 3 to 5 June, 2011. The theme for the conference was “No fears, you are the answer.” This was to challenge the students to reorient their thinking about the past and their background and to begin to think of themselves as the thinkers, shapers and touch bearers of excellence in Ghana and on the continent Africa. That students hold the solutions to the problems that confront the nation and the continent and so should rise to the challenge of the occasion by becoming the very best in whatever they do now as students. The first presentation in the afternoon was captioned “why the need for FAYDI at this time in the world history” by FAYDI president Samuel Sarpaning.
The second day presentation was captioned “The Challenge to Excellence” subtitled “Is there not a Cause” by Samuel Sarpaning, this presentation sparked a new wave of passion in the atmosphere as students chant FAYDI slogan “Championing Africa Excellence Now” creating in them a passion for academic excellence. On the third day, FAYDI stormed the campus with an open interview; most of the students were interviewed on the reasons they are pursuing the course they are reading and also their perception on the educational conference and the impact it has had on their life so far. The students thanked FAYDI team for the conference and requested that the conference be organized in other second cycle schools to facilitate and hasten the spirit of excellence among the future leaders of the country and the continent.
FAYDI team then visited the head master of C.D.S to know the performance of the school so far and the challenges it faced. FAYDI agreed to design a website and e-learning for the school to facilitate it academic work since it seek to champion academic excellence in all the schools in Ghana and beyond.
Finally, a club was opened with leaders and a sponsor, Mr. Dennis to sustain the influence of FAYDI in the school. The current membership of the club is about 60 people.
The educational conference organized by FAYDI at the College of Development Studies was a successful one, and will go down into the annals of the school and that of FAYDI. Pictures and interviews from the conference are attached to buttress this report.
This is the first phase of helping Ghana to achieve its vision of "CHAMPIONING AFRICAN EXCELLENCE" by grooming a generation that seeks to excel in order to champion excellence across the African Continent. All are cordially invited to be part of FAYDI and to support and sponsor its activities.
